Nexters has acquired three mobile production facilities for around $100 million: Cubic Games, Royal Ark, and RJ Games.
Cubic Games is well-known for its work on the mobile first-person shooter Pixel Gun 3D. According to Cubic Games, Pixel Gun 3D has over 100 million downloads, more than 10 million monthly active users, and an average of 1.5 million daily active players.
Royal Ark is the developer behind mobile survival RPGs Dawn of Zombies and Shelter Wars. In 2021, Royal Ark’s two titles earned $9 million in reservations. Finally, RJ Games is the creator of Puzzle Breakers. Puzzle Breakers is still in soft launch on Android devices, but it’ll be available in Q2 2022.
These new partnerships as part of Nexters’ consolidation strategy and product development plan. With the games from these studios, Nexters aims to expand its player pool, enter new genres, and firmly establish itself as the leading mobile gaming sector in the mid-core segment.
“We are excited to announce the inaugural M&A deals of Nexters as a public company, showing proof of our ambition to consolidate the gaming industry in the Russian-speaking region,” said Nexters CEO and co-founder Andrey Fadeev. “We believe these deals, combined, are one of the largest gaming M&A transactions in the region and will create a strong foundation for further consolidation.”
Furthermore, the Nexters integration team will assist these companies with adapting their approach for future expansion by sharing its expertise in development, monetization, marketing, and other areas.
As part of the agreement, Nexters will acquire Lightmap, the parent company of Cubic Games.
Fadeev said several gaming companies in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other parts of Eastern Europe have been operating for years. This area has a long history of producing outstanding talent, enthusiasm, and influence worldwide video gaming.
Fadeev also stated that Nexters has a lot in common with these studios since they all develop outstanding games loved and played by millions of people across the world.
The purchases, which are expected to combine a portion of cash with freshly issued shares, will be made by firms acquiring the parent companies of the three studios.
The acquisitions are anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
In other news, Tilting Point said it had reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Korea-based game developer AN Games for an unknown sum.
