Australia-based fitness firm OliveX has acquired UK-based studio Six to Start for $6.65 million. Six to Start is the developer of fitness and exercise-centric game, Zombies, Run! and The Walk and Zombies, Run 5k.

According to the deal, the takeover includes all the developer’s issued shares, with OliveX paying $6.65 million upfront and an additional $2.85 million tied to the studio’s future performance.

OliveX CEO Keith Rumjahn said that Six to Start’s acquisition would “bring immediate value to OliveX.”

Six to Start is mainly focused on developing health and fitness apps and launched its first-ever exercise-game, Zombies, Run! in 2012 for iOS and Android devices. The studio has another title, The Walk and Zombies, Run 5k.

In May 2015, Zombies, Run! became a free-to-play game for iOS and Android platforms. The game is also available on the Apple Watch.

Following the acquisition, Six to Start CEO and founder Adrian Hon will become OliveX’s newly appointed chief innovation officer. In addition to his new position, Hon will continue serving as the executive director at Six to Start.

The game Zombies, Run! is set in a small town called Abel Township, trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Players assume the role of Runner 5, who must go out to gather supplies for his neighbors and solve mysteries by listening to audio stories.

Zombies, Run! is scripted by Naomi Alderman and a few other writers. The game also includes contributions from sci-fi writers like Andrea Phillips and Margaret Atwood.

Prior to Six to Start’s acquisition by OliveX, the game was funded by a Kickstarter campaign, whose 3,464 backers raised $72,627.
