On Wednesday, March 4 the GDAA held its Annual General Meeting. As part of the meeting, GDAA members voted unanimously to allow the purchase of their assets by IGEA, effectively bringing the two associations together, under the banner of IGEA.
IGEA will assume the management responsibilities of Melbourne based The Arcade, a successful, collaborative work- space for game developers. Further, IGEA will be responsible for delivering GCAP, Australia’s premier game development conference, which attracts esteemed speakers from both Australia and abroad, with the aim to connect, unite and upskill the local game development industry.
The current Melbourne based Arcade staff members, Ceri Hutton and Sav Emmett Wolfe, will join the IGEA team and continue to manage and run the Arcade and assist in the delivery of GCAP 2020.
Ron Curry, CEO of IGEA says, “We thank the GDAA Board and their members for placing their trust in us to continue to deliver a strong and representative association to advocate and educate on behalf of our industry. We welcome Ceri and Sav to our team, along with many new members to the association.
“With numerous issues under management and a larger member base, the IGEA Board along with the GDAA Board are undertaking a strategic review in the second week of April. It is incredibly important that we deliver value for both our long-standing and new members, while continuing our work for the wider industry. With an expanded team and new challenges, we are very excited for the future.”
