Awesome Games Done Quick has broken a new fundraising record for a single Games Done Quick event by collecting over $3.4 million for charity.
Awesome Games Done Quick is a popular video game speedrunning marathon.
Following the week-long 24-hour AGDQ 2022, Games Done Quick shared the news on Twitter, which raised a total of $3,416,729 for Prevent Cancer Foundation. AGDQ called the event “is officially the most we’ve ever raised in the history of @GamesDoneQuick – ANOTHER WR.”
Furthermore, AGDQ 2022 reached the record for fastest $1 million in donations in Games Done Quick history.
The event was held from January 9 to 16 on Twitch, and numerous world records were broken, including Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Webbed speedruns, and Pumpkin Jack. The event was a great success, with speedrunners from all over the world demonstrating their outstanding abilities for a good cause.
AGDQ had a total of 148 runs, 28,034 contributors, and 49,438 donations based on Games Done Quick’s donation tracker.
Games Done Quick has raised over $37 million for charity for various charities since its inception in 2010. Last year’s Awesome Games Done Quick had generated $2.75 million in donations.
Apart from Prevent Cancer Foundation, Awesome Games Done Quick raised money for Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières, AbleGamers, Direct Relief, Malala Fund, and Organization for Autism Research.
At AGDQ 2021, the team raised $3.13 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, which is fantastic to see.
The next GDQ event will be the all-women winter speedrunning competition Frost Fatales, which will take place from February 27 to March 5.
This year’s Summer Games Done Quick will also take place; however, more information will be revealed later.
