Esports communities website company MOBA Network announced it had acquired gaming forum Resetera.com for $4.5 million.
According to the terms of the deal, an initial amount of $3.55 million has already been paid, with the remaining $1 million will be paid by the end of the year.
Formed in 2017, Resetera is proving to be quite popular and receives an average of 60 million monthly page views.
“We are very excited and proud to welcome Resetera.com — one of the world’s largest gaming forum and community brands — to our growing number of brands. Resetera.com has great growth potential, and we see significant opportunities to develop Resetera.com, continue to grow traffic flows, improve the sales development and extract synergies within the MOBA Group,” said MOBA Network CEO Björn Mannerqvist in a press release. “Resetera.com is another step in our strategy to grow through acquisitions and create more relevant communities with attractive, growing target groups that many companies want to expose themselves to.”
The forum currently has about 45 million posts and 55,000 members. In the twelve months preceding August 31, over $700,000 in sales was recorded on the site.
Based in Sweden, MOBA Network is the owner of eight esports-focused communities’ websites, including Dotafire.com, Leaguespy.net, and Smitefire.com.
MOBA Network said there won’t be any change to the leadership or the management at Resetera. The Resetera team will continue leading the forum under the new administration.
However, MOBA Network said it is exploring new avenues to increase its advertising revenue through higher direct sales, implementing new ad formats, and forming a new long-term product development strategy.
